Avec l'inauguration de la Fondation Beyeler en octobre 1997, la collection Beyeler dispose désormais d'un musée public. L'édifice a été concu par l'architecte italien Renzo Piano. Outre des oeuvres de Cézanne, Picasso, Rousseau, Mondrian, Klee, Ernst, Matisse, Newman, Bacon, Dubuffet, Baselitz et autres, la collection comprend vingt-cinq pièces représentant les arts d'Afrique, d'Alaska et d'Océanie et entretenant un dialogue étroit avec les peintures et sculptures de l'art moderne. |
