Con l'apertura della fondazione Beyeler nell'ottobre 1997, la collezione Beyeler ricevette un museo ufficale. L'edificio é stato progettato dall'architetto Renzo Piano. Oltre alle opere di Cézanne, Picasso, Rousseau, Mondrian, Klee, Ernst, Matisse, Newman, Bacon, Dubuffet, Baselitz ecc., la collezione contiente 25 opere moderne provenienti dall'Africa, Alasca e dall'Oceania.
