“Em Bebbi sy Jazz” in Basel – probably the world’s largest one-day jazz event. More than 70 orchestras, 10 street bands & 3 choirs perform and admission is free.
The jazz festival “Em Bebbi sy Jazz” has been taking place on the first Friday after the Basel school summer holidays in August since 1984.
In the beginning there was the idea of two jazz fans to organize a summer evening festival to enliven Basel's city center and its most beautiful squares with traditional jazz and at the same time to give the many jazz bands from the region a platform to play in front of a wide audience to be able to.
Over more than 30 years, the idea of these two jazz fans has given rise to what is probably the world's largest one-day jazz event, where - as in the first year and still today - all concerts can be attended free of charge.
In addition to the voluntary work of the organizational team, this unique event is made possible by the commitment of the numerous sponsors, patrons and partners.
